Barlow Respiratory Hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission and meets
national standards for demonstrating quality of care, patient safety and
excellence in associated medical staff.
Barlow Respiratory Hospital was the first Passy-Muir Speaking Valve Center of Excellence in the Western United States. The Passy-Muir® Tracheostomy & Ventilator Swallowing and Speaking Valve improves quality of life for our patients. After prolonged mechanical ventilation, the Passy-Muir valve makes it possible for patients to speak. After the isolation and silence of long hospitalizations, this allows a precious connection to loved ones and provides valuable communication with medical and care-giving teams. In 2022, Barlow Respiratory Hospital was awarded certification for the Gold Seal of Approval® for Disease Specific Certification for Wound Care by the Joint Commission.
We are among an elite few hospitals nationwide to be awarded.
A rigorous on-site review was conducted by Joint Commission experts who evaluated compliance with national disease-specific care standards as well as respiratory failure-specific requirements, clinical practice guidelines and performance measures.
The certification is a symbol of quality that reflects our commitment to providing safe and effective patient care. Barlow Respiratory Hospital continues to work to meet standards set by the Joint Commission in all areas.
